After the domain name registration process is one more action that you need to complete which is the ICANN verification.
Verifying Your Domain Name By ICANN Verification
What Is ICANN Verification?
ICANN stands for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and they are responsible for ensuring that the different websites over the Internet can be properly linked to each other, and that each of these websites and their domains are operational.
Why Do You Need To Verify Your Domain?
One of ICANN’s tasks is to make sure that a domain name is properly filed under a registrant (the domain name owner) and the registrant’s information such as his/her name, address, and contact information. This identifies the domain name and its ownership accordingly so that whenever someone looks up a domain, it can be directed to its specific owner. We always say that your domain name is your identity online, and that’s why ICANN verification is very important.
- After successfully signing up your new domain, you will receive an email from us that should look like this:
- You can expect this email in about 24 hours after your domain registration. A date will be provided to you as a deadline to make sure you verify your domain on or before the given period.
- We recommend that you click on the link as soon as you receive this email from us. If the mentioned date on the email passes and the link has not been clicked, the selected domain may be suspended for a given period (will vary on the gravity of the reason for suspension).
- If in case you receive another email and you have already completed the verification, simply disregard the latest email.
